Robert Beilin has been involved in providing family law mediation and mental health services since 1983. He has served as a mediator, family therapist, child custody consultant, evaluator, and special master, as well as a director of the Ventura Superior Court’s Family Court Services unit. A licensed marital and family therapist since 1976, he provides mediation, psychotherapy, coaching, and consultation to the collaborative family law community. \.
Dr. Beilin earned his BA, MA, and PhD in social psychology through UCLA’s Department of Sociology. He also holds a masters degree in counseling from USC. He is on the faculty of California Lutheran University’s Graduate School of Psychology, where he teaches the family mediation specialization. Dr. Beilin has published articles on the dynamics of child custody disputes and their resolution, and has provided training to judges, attorneys, and mental health professionals through the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. He was a member of the boards of directors of the AFCC-California and CAMFT-Ventura Chapters. He has also served as the director for a statewide forensic mental health program. When not working in the collaborative family law process, he has testified as an expert witness in over 250 forensic mental health hearings.
Dr. Beilin is married, and has shared in raising two children and five stepchildren.
