Paul is a charter member of the Collaborative Family Lawyers in Ventura County. This organization was formed in 2000 by 18 family law lawyers committed to resolving family law matters outside the adversarial court system.

Paul graduated from Loyola Marymount University and the University of San Diego Law School prior to beginning his practice in Ventura County in 1974. Paul is the managing partner of the Law Firm of Lowthorp, Richards, McMillan, Miller & Templeman. Paul has experience in the areas of real estate, general business, partnerships and corporations with an emphasis on family law.

Paul is a third generation Ventura County resident. He and his wife, Lindy, have three children and live in Ventura. Over the years, Paul has served as Chairman of St. John's Hospital Humanitarians; on the Board of Trustees of St. Paul's School; as a fund raiser for St. Bonaventure High School; as an Officer and Director of Oxnard Trade Club; the Ventura County Trial Lawyers; the Ventura County Bar Association; and the Family Law Section.
